Tagging, browsing and searching using formal taxonomies and thesauri, including geographical tagging. Boolean searching, backed up with the use of thesauri to cater for synonyms etc.
Federated searching, including schema translation using XSLT for heterogeneous environments. Clean, accessible user interfaces that follow WCAG guidance. Interoperability via SOAP-based web services, with a security layer added using WSE and validation using XSD.
Adherence to e-Government and other public standards, such as e-GIF, e-GMS and Dublin Core. Syndication using light protocols such as RSS, ATOM and OPML, and heavier protocols such as OAI-PMH and RDF/XML. Single Sign-on, allowing users to use a single set of credentials to access a variety of web sites.
