Short profile:

The purpose-built surgery building is in a splendid setting and has ample space, providing patients and staff with a relaxed environment. There are six consulting rooms, three treatment rooms, in addition to extensive administrative rooms.

Each partner is a general family doctor, and at the present time we are not involved in substantial responsibilities outside the practice, other than several local nursing and residential homes.

Detailed description:

The practice has nearly 8000 patients, and covers an area of about 90 square miles, although 80% of patients are within three miles of the surgery premises. 65% live in Hungerford itself.

The practice is within the West Berkshire PCT area, which covers West Berkshire, Reading and Wokingham.

The purpose-built surgery building is owned by the partners, is in positive equity and the loan is covered by the "cost rent" scheme. The original building dates from 1959, but after three extension during the 1970s and 1980s, the surgery was doubled in size and remodelled in 1993. It is in a splendid setting and has ample space, providing patients and staff with a relaxed environment. There are six consulting rooms, three treatment rooms, in addition to extensive administrative rooms.

Ante-natal and post-natal care are carried out by our community midwife Kamla Cook, and the partners.

We strongly recommend that all children are immunised according to the nationally recommended standard schedule.
