Based at Pangdean, a working farm of 1, 000 acres at Pyecombe, only 5 miles North of Brighton, and situated just off the main A23 London to Brighton Road. Included in the Doomsday Book, Pangdean Farm was once owned by the Prince Regent, later King George lV, while he was building his Pavilion in Central Brighton. It remained part of the Royal Estates until 1985 when it was bought by the Currie Family.
Right at the heart of the farm sits the magnificent 17th Century oak framed Old Barn and the attached milking parlour, which was built in 1902. Both buildings have been sympathetically adapted to provide an amazing venue to host all kinds of events and which can comfortably seat parties of 20 to 180 people. For the past 18 years Nicky Currie has run her specialist event catering business, Hunger Pangs, from her family home in the main farmhouse and provides wonderful food to match this wonderful venue. Nicky is passionate about the food produced by Hunger Pangs and her reputation is all.
She will not cut corners and she will not compromise on quality. Buying only the finest ingredients, locally sourced wherever possible, she and her equally enthusiastic team produce outstanding food, all of which is homemade. Nothing is bought in pre-prepared, hardly anything is frozen and there’s not a microwave in sight! This is proper cooking; even the horseradish sauce right through to the ice-cream and after dinner mints is hand made in her kitchens.
Please take a little time to browse these pages to get a flavour for what we offer at Pangdean and Hunger Pangs and whether you want a formal or informal wedding, a simple barn dance, a golden wedding party or a christening celebration, be assured that Nicky and all her team will do all they can to make your event truly special. Please note that Hunger Pangs will cater away at other venues, not just at Pangdean.
