Short profile:
After a rush of orders for our December beer, Twelve Days last week we ran out and had to have an unscheduled brew on Saturday morning. The first job was to get hold of some Chocolate Malt as we had none left. Friday evening was a busy one, ringing round local brewers in the hope of getting some of this elusive malt, eventually John Pilling of North Cotswold Brewery was the hero of the hour! It was an early start on Saturday morning for the brewers who collected the malt from John at his farm based micro brewery near Moreton-in-Marsh at 6.30am. The malt was then brought straight back to Hook Norton and used for brewing immediately. It was literally all hands to the mill to then ‘mash in’ and get the beer into the fermenting vessels ready to be racked on the following Thursday. We would like to extend a massive thank you to John Pilling for helping us out and are proud to show an example of the nature of the brewing trade and how we work together.
Detailed description:
We have re-launched our product range. We have kept some of your favourites and added many new items, including jackets and body warmers. We have also expanded our range of exclusive brewery merchandise this includes genuine Hooky bottle clocks, chocolate and more. The Brewery Visitors centre is now open on Saturdays from 9.30am to 4.30pm. Brewery tours run Monday to Saturday and last approximately 2 hours and must be booked in advance. All tours are followed by a sampling of our beer in the visitors centre. For our mature guests only. The English pub is part of our way of life. For hundreds of years the public house has been at the centre of communities in Oxfordshire and throughout the country. The public house is a place where people go to socialise, drink beer, eat food, relax and enjoy themselves. There are no better examples of English pubs than those found in and around Oxfordshire, Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire.
