Short profile:

The HGCA Board comprises grower and processor representatives, together with an independent member and a Chairman. The HGCA Chairman also sits on the AHDB Board.

HGCA Board members are appointed by the HGCA Chairman and a representative(s) from the AHDB Board through an open appointments system. HGCA Board appointments are for a three year term.

The HGCA Board is responsible for strategy in the cereals and oilseeds sector, and submits an Annual Business Plan to AHDB for publication in the annual AHDB Corporate Plan. The HGCA Board is also responsible for deployment of cereal and oilseed levies against delivery of its Sector Annual Business Plan.

HGCA has a number of Advisory Committees which report to the HGCA Board. Membership of Advisory Committees is approved by the HGCA Board.

Funded by a statutory levy raised on growers, dealers and processors of cereals and oilseeds.

Levies are raised by AHDB on the following cereal and oilseed crops grown in the UK: wheat, barley, oats, rye, maize, tricticale, mixed corn, rapeseed, linseed, sunflower seed and soyabean.

HGCA carries out research and development, market information, supply chain activities and consumer marketing programmes for the benefit of the cereals and oilseeds sector.
