Short profile:

Hollytree Cottage is a Grade I listed stone-built house commanding uninterrupted views across undulating farmland in the little hamlet of Laverton. Historically, the Domesday Book mentions a rich cloth merchant living here and in nearby Bradford on Avon there are several charming medieval weavers’ cottages. The extensive space under the roof of the local George Pub in Norton St Philip was a medieval cloth sellers’ indoor market. The old Roman Road from Bath to Salisbury runs through Laverton where sites of Roman villas have been identified and archaeological digs are held annually.

Detailed description:

Visitors can enjoy the peace of the countryside at Hollytree Cottage and within a 20- Minute drive be in the hustle and bustle of Bath. Having explored the City and its Spa, Longleat, Stourhead, Stonehenge, Wells Cathedral, Cheddar Gorge, Glastonbury and the Somerset Levels are within easy driving distance. Further away the arboretum at Westonbirt in the Cotswolds is well worth a visit in late autumn.

Hollytree Cottage has a charming south-facing garden with a surprise around every corner. The many plants, shrubs and trees have been carefully chosen to provide seasonal colour throughout the year.

Afternoon tea is offered free of charge to welcome visitors, either al fresco or in front of a log fire in the drawing room in winter.
