Our curriculum provides rich and varied opportunities including a strong culture of art, sport and ICT.All children have the opportunity to be involved in our annual Christmas performance.As a school we are very active in raising funds for charity, and encourage the children to particiapte in a variety of ways. Support from the High school provides a maths club for Y6 Gifted and Talented mathematicians. Specialist Maths and PE teachers from the High School also work regularly with all Y6 pupilsFlute lessons are available through the county Music Service.Extra curricular opportunities are available through a variety of clubs. We also have a wildlife area which is a bit overgrown - another project!
At break-time, years R and 1 go on the back playground, whilst years 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 go on our BIGGER front playground. We have a play shed where children can 'borrow' games to play in their lunch break.
On the back playground we have a wooden covered aera with seats, and another large canopy for the younger children to play with sand and in the playhouse.
We have two mobile classrooms - Y6 are in the larger one and the second one is used as a music and nurture room.
Inside we have a hall, five more classrooms and a well equipped ICT suite where we have ICT based lessons (it is great!). There is an interactive whiteboard in the ICT suite, and in every teaching room. We also have sets of notebook computers to use in the classrooms.
More changes are on the way to our school buildings and grounds ... To further develop our learning environment for the younger children we are having an outside door made in their classroom and creating a large covered freeflow area. We are hoping the work will be started .. and finished over the next couple of months! We're also hoping that Hingham playgroup will be moving to a new building on our school field by next Summer.
