Short profile:
The Tuition Centre offers support to all Hillingdon Borough schools for pupils with social, emotional and/or behavioural difficulties via a dual roll facility. We work with many different groups of pupils over a wide age range. Our ultimate aim is to re-integrate all pupils back into mainstream schools wherever possible.
When this is not possible, pupils are offered preparation for adult life including entry to public examinations and work related learning in Key Stage 4. Examples of the groups taught are shown below.
This list is not exhaustive as the Centre responds to needs and groups are set up as the need arises and funds become available.
Detailed description:
Pupils returning to mainstream schools and completing their education without further permanent exclusion
¿
Year 10 and 11 pupils if they are permanently excluded by offering a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum to achieve relative examination success and steer a transition programme for these pupils onto the world of work, training and opportunities for further education.
¿
To have a special duty of care towards individual pupils whose education has reached a point of crisis and to liaise with their families.
¿
Permanently excluded pupils.
¿

Pupils requiring an education otherwise than at school, for example disaffected pupils.
¿

¿
Pupils with a statement of special need who cannot be placed in mainstream or a special school or who have been excluded from their school may be considered for support by the PST.
¿
Pupils who need support whilst transferring from one school to another.
¿

It is not possible for the full National Curriculum to be taught. Our personalised timetables enable pupils to access a curriculum appropriate to their needs. Where pupils are dual roll the curriculum is agreed with the referring school.
