A delightful Victorian Home, full of original character and beautifully decorated throughout with a stylish mix of antiques and interesting old country furniture. A warm welcome, attentive yet unobtrusive service and mouth-watering food all add up to a relaxing and civilised experience. We are enthusiasts for good food and dedicated to the idea of using only the best of fresh, and almost totally organic, produce. Aurea bakes bread every day using organic wholemeal flour; makes her own organic whole milk yoghurts, as well as finding time to make marmalade and breakfast preserves. Vegetarians are particularly well catered for and our separate vegetarian breakfast menu, with an interesting selection of homemade goodies, demonstrates rather well that we take our cooking seriously.

We have three lovely warm bedrooms for guests, each one individually decorated in a homely style with hand made patchwork bedspreads or 1930's quilts. Lichen has its own en-suite bathroom, whilst Rowan has an en-suite shower room with power shower. Clover, our third bedroom has recently been improved and is now fully en-suite with bath and shower. All rooms have tea and coffee trays with homemade biscuits, as well as colour TV, hairdryer and radio. The sitting room has a stunning cast iron fireplace and wonderful decorative cornicing. It is a relaxing place to gaze into the glowing coal fire, or just sit and read a good book. A selection of cereals from the Oak dresser, including our own recipe organic muesli and crunchy granola, oven baked with extra virgin olive oil, honey and vanilla. A compote of dried fruits: prunes, peaches, figs, apples and apricots. Fresh fruit salad Our home-made organic yoghurt, sweetened with a dash of honey and topped with fresh fruit puree. Freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juices. Manx Cooked Breakfast Choose from traditional dry cured bacon, locally made pork sausage, black pudding, free-range eggs, fried bread, tomato, mushrooms. Manx kippers smoked in the traditional way over oak chippings. Homemade Kedgeree, a traditional Anglo-Indian breakfast dish, made with with smoked haddock, free range eggs and fragrant organic basmati rice. Home made American style pancakes served hot from the skillet with a knob of butter and a swirl of real maple syrup. Welsh rarebit: A slice of our wholemeal toast topped with organic mature Cheddar cheese, flashed under a hot grill and served with home made tomato chutney. Free range eggs: poached, scrambled or fried. Home baked bread made with organic unbleached white or wholemeal flour. Organic butter or organic diary-free spread. Skimmed or full-fat milk. Homemade preserves. Manx honey. Farrers fine leaf breakfast blend tea; Earl Grey; green China tea; herbal or fruit teas.
