Highfields Nursery was founded by Hans Krayesteyn in 1997.
Born in the Netherlands, Hans studied horticulture in Holland and has many years experience in horticulture garden design and landscaping.
Over the last 13 years Highfields Nursery has grown and now produces more than 20.000 specimen shrubs, climbers and perennials every year (350 varieties). Spaced out on drip irrigated nursery beds to create high quality, even, hardy plants.
Most plants are grown in 5, 7.5, 10 and 20 litre containers and when ready for sale they can transform any new or existing garden
in an instant.
All plants at Highfields Nursery are grown outside, only some plants are offered unheated protection in polly tunnels. All plants are generously spaced on the nursery and are irrigated by drip irrigation to create superb quality plants. This means our stock has an excellent hardiness in readiness for planting. This combined with our sunny climate in Essex produces healthy plants in excellent condition.

As well as garden design Highfields Nursery can offer assistance with landscape services, over the years our projects have ranged from small domestic gardens through to commercial and public applications. We offer our clients a total package solution from design concept to plant selection, planting, after care and planting plans. Highfields Nursery assist clients with block paving, ornamental grasses, plant scouring, pond and water feature design / installation.
Highfields Nursery offer a Garden Design Service, this is available to both wholesale and private customers. Trained in Holland, Hans Krayesteyn has a wealth or design experience and specializes in show house gardens and private gardens of all shapes and sizes. Our Garden Design service is available within a 40 mile radius from Little Tey, Colchester.
Although the nursery is run as a wholesale business we do also cater for private customers, the Nursery can be visited by appointment only
and we will be happy to show you around and assist you with your garden needs. Plants can be bought directly from the nursery and a delivery service isalso available ( up to 25 miles). Any plants not available at the nursery can be sourced for you. As we are a wholesale business
considerable savings could be made compared to retail centres.
