Detailed description:
The curriculum provides all students with a broad and balanced education aimed at preparing them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life as well as furthering their cultural, artistic and creative development. This is achieved by ensuring that the students are purposefully engaged in an education that encompasses:
an exploration of the world of ideas and expression through the subjects of the national curriculum; a stimulating programme of work that is relevant to the world outside school and which includes developing ideas of citizenship, a familiarity with information and communication technology and an understanding of the environment; a wide range of teaching and learning experiences, differentiated according to age and ability, which encourage students to be enterprising, to solve problems and to work both in teams, and, as independent learners; personal, social, health and citizenship education; an assessment programme designed to guide students’ development, to report on progress and to inform parents, employers and other appropriately interested parties; direct opportunities to learn about work and the economy through work experience, work shadowing and projects in the community; comprehensive careers guidance including opportunities in higher education.
