We have high expectations of all our children and support every individual to make good progress. However, we want our children to enjoy school and fun is a high priority. We are proud of our exciting curriculum, the chance for children to work together meaningfully across year groups and the range of opportunities we offer in a friendly, supportive and caring environment.
Detailed description:
Our enthusuastic staff offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities for our pupils. These include sport and music clubs as well as opportunities for the children to build on their knowledge of the world and apply their learning.
We have good links with local sports clubs which allow us to access facilities and specialist coaches. We particpate in many cluster group sporting tournaments and events.
Links with the LEA Music Service enable many children to enjoy learning to play musical instruments, including brass, string and woodwind We also provide the opportunity for every child in Y3 to learn to play the violin and the recorder. The staff are committed to ensuring pupils share their talents by organising concerts throughout the year for all year groups. We enjoy joining with local schools for musical events and the school choir takes part in two concerts at the Colston Hall in Bristol.
We also enjoy numerous visits to the school by theatre and music groups, sportsmen/sportswomen etc and each year group visit topic-related places of interest both locally and further afield.
All of year 6 has the opportunity to go to Wales or skiing in France on a residential visit and French is taught to all pupils.
