Short profile:

Hevingham and Marsham primary partnership operates an Admissions policy as recommended by Norfolk Education Authority. We have a maximum intake of 15 children per year giving an overall capacity of 105 children at Hevingham and 5 children per year group at Marsham giving an overall capacity of 35. Our admissions policy to the Reception Class reflects the Norfolk LA admissions policy.

Detailed description:

Children born between 1st September and the end of February may start school full time at the beginning of the Autumn term before their fifth birthday

Children who reach their fifth birthday between 1st March and 31st August can attend five part-time [morning] sessions during the Autumn term and become full time at the beginning of the Spring term

We are able to admit children to any year group at any time of the year providing that space within that year group exists. If you are interested in visiting the school to meet us and see us at work then please do not hesitate to contact us through the school office.

At our schools we place emphasis on good attendance. The schools and Norfolk L.A. reward ‘good attenders’ with annual certificates. Parents and carers are informed termly of attendance rates. If a child is unable to attend school we ask parents or carers to let us know the reason why between 8.30 and 9.00 a.m. on the first day of that absence and confirm the reason by note on the day of return to school.

Registration takes place at 9.00-9.10 a.m. and again at 1.07 p.m. Any child that arrives after registration without a prior explanation being given has to be recorded as an unauthorised absence.

Should a child arrive late or need to be collected early, an adult should report to the school office so that we know exactly who is in school.

We strongly advise Parents or Carers not to take children away from school during term-time. Local Authority policy requires parents or carers to sign a Leave of Absence form. The current school policy is that we only authorise holidays when a child’s record of attendance is 95% and above but strongly discourage term-time holidays. Requests for absence due to holidays must be made to the head teacher via the school office.
