Heversham St Peter’s Primary School was originally situated in the church grounds in what is now known as the old school. The school moved to its present site on 1st September 1891 and had its first extension, a new classroom, opened on 4th November 1903.
The school has been subsequently extended in 1966, 1999 and 2002.
The school caters for pupils between 4 to 11 years. At present there are 99 children on roll. Over 50% of these come to us from outside the catchment area. The school now has 4 teaching classrooms, a hall, a library and a computer suite. The Hall is used for assemblies, drama, sport, music, lunches and special occasions.
The school runs a number of different clubs for different groups of children. These change over the year and involve a range of activities.
At Heversham St Peters we work together as a team. We aim to provide a stimulating, challenging and caring environment where children can grow as learners and as human beings. We pride ourselves on good discipline and, importantly, staff and pupils value one another’s contribution to school life.
Heversham St Peter’s C of E Primary School is situated in the village of Leasgill on a hilly site overlooking the village of Heversham and looking towards Morecambe Bay. It is a beautiful site surrounded by mature trees and shrubs, has a wildlife area, a pond and a small hilly area at the back of the school.
Dedicated teachers, imaginative programmes of work and excellent relationships within a Christian environment make the working environment harmonious and effective. Staff and pupils work hard together and there is a climate of purposeful endeavour. Pupils are enthusiastic, responsive and well mannered. Excellent home-school relationships ensure standards of achievement and behaviour are sustained.
The school is well resourced with a large multi-use hall, a library, an art area in each classroom and an amphitheatre. School also has a computer suite and computers in each classroom, all with filtered access. There is a football and games field adjacent to the Parish Church and during the Summer Term the children are able to use the open-air swimming pool at Dallam Secondary School in Heversham village with which we have close sporting and modern foreign language links.
