Short profile:
Hermitage is a school that puts the needs of the children at the heart of everything it does; the needs of children to be successful learners and to make excellent progress in their learning
the needs of children to be happy and well cared for
the needs of children to feel safe and secure
the needs of children to learn in different ways and in different places
the need for children to have their dreams and aspirations, their worries and concerns acted on
We hope our developing website will give you a flavour of life at Hermitage.
As a school, we're agreed that we want children to be happy and enjoy their learning. The education we provide should enable children to explore their full potential. We want children to be confident, and self motivated learners, and to take responsibility for their life choices.
Detailed description:
At Hermitage Primary School, we aim to create and build an inspiring learning environment in partnership with the children and the community. The staff bring with them a wide variety of skills, experiences and interests. Our aim is to provide the children in our care with exciting opportunities, where the children can find out about themselves, and the world.
At Hermitage Primary School we like to involve the wider community to play an active part in creating an enriched learning experience for all our children.
Hermitage is a one-and-a-half form entry primary school located in Wapping, East London. We have about 270 children on roll ranging in age from nursery (age 3) to year 6 (age 11). We are very proud of our peaceful and historical location, close to the River Thames and St Katharine's Docks. We are easily accesible from Tower Hill, Tower Gateway and Wapping stations and the 100 bus stops just outside, whether coming from Elephant and Castle via Liverpool Street Station or from Shadwell.
From September 2010 Hermitage will have 11 classes across 3 areas of the school. The Early Years Foundation Stage will have 3 classes, Key Stage 1, 3 classes and Key Stage 2, 5 classes. More information about staff and classes can be found by following the 2 links to the left of this text.
Parents and members of the community are an important part of school life, and we have many educational opportunities available, from our pre school "Stay and Play" to ESOL classes .Hermitage has an active community group, called the 'Hermitage School Community Association', who organise and run events for the children, parents and local people. You can find out more by following the link to the left.
We seek and nurture partnerships with the local community, and the wider world.
