Acquired Brain Injury Service in Milton Keynes. Objectives: To meet clients’ individual needs and help realise their own potential.
To provide a safe environment for clients to meet others with similar experiences and problems and take part in social, educational and creative activities and improve independent personal skills which increases confidence and self esteem.
To provide personal or telephone support for callers/carers from the general public.
To promote awareness and understanding of brain injury in the local community.
Supporting Our Community:
Headway MK encourages and assists improvement and performance within the areas of cognitive, behavioural, emotional and physical damage arising from brain injury, even many years later.
Detailed description:
We are the only voluntary sector organisation in Milton Keynes offering day opportunities to people who have acquired a brain injury and are 18 years and over. We support peopl who have had a stroke and wish to gain in confidence, improve motor and cognitive skills with a view to regaining their independence.
We rely mainly on our own fundraising activities and are very much a volunteer focussed organisation who prides itself on its ability to provide services to a group of people who so often are misunderstood due to their condition.
