Short profile:
Our school provides an excellent range of sporting activities for the childen, including netball, sailing football, cricket, running and swimming. We have benefitted greatly from the excellent sporting links with St Mary's high School who have been involved with a huge range of activities in school. The children have represented the school at numerous tournaments and sports festivals and have added to the trophy cabinet.
Years 5 & 6 experience an annual residential visit, centres such as Robinwood Activity Centre, Cumbria, Kingswood in Lancashire and the East coast have all proved to be the highlight of the year.This year we will be visiting Carlton Lodge outdoor activity centre in Thirsk. To enhance the children's learning through first hand experiences, we encourage many opportunities for educational visits and visitors to school and we have been fortunate this year that the Friends of Hawksworth have subsidised additional activities.
The music ensemble, keyboard and recorder groups enjoy weekly practices and musicians and artists are often invited to work & perform in school.The gardening club, aided by the community have gained recognition and won numerous environmental awards.
