Hartforth Hall is steeped in history, from the circa 15th century arch on the tree lined drive - believed to be the ruins of a gatehouse of a medieval monastery to the impressive Georgian interiors and Victorian entrance facade.
Every room in Hartforth Hall reflects the history and recaptures the feeling of the past with some of the comforts of the present. All of our individually styled and tastefully decorated bedrooms have ensuite facilities, colour television, tea and coffee making facilities. Some rooms have direct dial telephones. Front and side rooms have command of breathtaking views across the Yorkshire countryside.
We are always delighted to organise and cater for Conferences, Private Dinners / Celebrations, Christmas and New Year Parties and Wedding Receptions.

Historical features of the Hall include adamsque plasterwork, imposing fireplaces, a cantilevered staircase, a water tower which commemorates the participation of former occupants in four wars and a former Orangery with Tuscan collonaded terrace approached by an elaborate staircase with an ornate fountain.
Hartforth Hall has been carefully refurbished to ensure that your visit will always be comfortable. Indeed it is listed among the top 10% of places of special architectural and historic interest. The extensive facilities in Hartforth Hall include the Gainsborough drawing room, a traditional bar with log fire and The Arches retaurant. A wedgwood style restaurant for relaxing candle-lit dinners is sometimes available. We pride ourselves on a high standard of home cooked cuisine which is complimented by a selection of fine wines.
This fabulous Hall is set in seven acres of grounds with splendid trees and natural gardens. It is ideally located with easy access to the joys of Yorkshire, Northumberland and County Durham. As added attractions we also regularly arrange special events to ensure that you always enjoy your stay with us.
Have a relaxing walk around the beautiful countryside surrounding the Hall or go sightseeing. For the more energetic, clay pigeon shooting, hunting, fishing, horse riding, trekking and golf can be arranged in advance.
The joys of the Yorkshire Dales are in the doorstep, Richmond, with its Norman Castle, Georgian Theatre Royal and three museums. The falls of the River Swale and James Herriot country are only a few miles away. Historic Barnard Castle and Bowes Museum with its famous sailing silver swan and Lightwater Valley Theme Park are only a short car drive away.
