HARROW HOCKEY CLUB

Short profile:

If one looks at a list of clubs formed in Middlesex that are no longer affiliated you will find Willesden & Harrow, 1890, then if you look at the list of current affiliated clubs you will find Harrow, 1896, formerly Willesden & Harrow. We know very little about the clubs history from 1890 until 1908. The first official and recorded report on the club's activities appears in our minutes of April 1st 1909 and this being the end of the hockey year, it can be assumed that the season was 1908/9. As reference is made to "the present grounds to be again taken from September 1909 to March 31st 1910", it can be concluded that the previous season was in fact 1907/8, and it is from this date that our club officially starts its history.

Detailed description:

Harrow Hockey Club is continually looking for new members to strengthen all teams in the Men's, Ladies and Junior sections. If you already play hockey (no matter at what level) and are interested in joining the club, or, would like to come along to try the game for the first time, please send an email to the General Secretary, or contact someone from the contacts page on this website. Please include a brief summary of your playing experience and, if possible, at least one contact telephone number.

The annual subscription includes match fees for all League Games, Pre-Season friendlies and training on Wednesday nights. A rebate system is in place to ensure that you do not lose out should you not be able to play approx. 20 games in a full season.

Fees are collected by captains for Sunday games (typically Cup games) and for Junior matches, as these are not covered by the annual subscription.

Finally, membership of the hockey section automatically includes membership of Kenton Sports Club, permitting one to use the bar and other facilities. Also, KSC members receive a VERY substantial discount to the cost of hiring the Club's hall for functions.
