Detailed description:
North Yorkshire and the City of York is one of the safest areas in the country and it is our aim to maintain this over the life of this Policing Plan. Over the last five years we have driven a reduction in crime of 30%. In plain terms this means that some 21, 286 fewer people were the victims of crime over that period. However, 2008 has seen dramatic shifts in the economic climate both in the UK and world wide. This presents new challenges for policing as more of the population find themselves in financial hardship.
