At Hannah More we have changed the way that children get a say in what happens. We have developed 4 children's voice groups. (click here to read about how we got started). Together the groups identify and work on areas they feel need improving.
Detailed description:
Our children and their families have an extensive range of opportunities for developing skills and talents beyond the curriculum.
To support academic achievement, children may be partnered with a volunteer reading or maths buddy from a local business, attend an after-school study support session or attend a weekend activity (such as our animation workshops).
Sporting prowess is developed through input from visiting coaches, working alongside teachers to deliver a range of sports e.g. hockey, dance, tennis and cricket. We now have our very own school football and cricket teams who compete against other local schools.
Extra-curricular clubs and activities include: karate, football, athletics, dance, art, drama, choir, steel pan drumming, sewing, recorders, cooking, computer club, video editing and gardening.
We actively seek to involve ourselves in local and national events such as: St Pauls Carnival, Schools' Prom, St Marks Road Festival, Dings Celebration, Colston Hall concerts and the Iron Acton May Day celebration.
We run an annual camp to Exmouth for the Year 5 and 6 children. Children have opportunities to learn windsurfing, circus skills, body boarding, mackerel fishing and disco dancing.
