Hadley Wood is a happy, welcoming school, where relationships between all the school community are based on mutual respect, and a culture of trust and openness. Children enjoy coming to school. Detailed description:
We provide a wide and varied curriculum for our pupils which includes:-
opportunities for cross-curricular and creative approaches through Focus Weeks; involvement in special projects and initiatives beyond the school to allow pupils to share learning with a wider group of pupils. These include: borough sporting events, Partnership Music Festival; Modern Foreign Language events and the Comenius Project; Educational visits; Residential visits (Y5 & 6); community events such as the Carol Service at the local church, links with local pre-schools; a varied menu of out of school clubs (see school website); wider opprtunites for children to play a musical instrument in Year 4; specialist provision for SEN and children with motor skills difficulties; charity fund-raisers such as Red Nose Day
KS1 Nativity & KS2 summer production; termly concerts by orchestra & choir; children are provided with opportunities in assemblies to play a musical instrument; children devise own rules in class along with their teachers; children take the initiative in fund raising; we readily invite outside performers and practioners in school; our curriculum is further enhanced by volunteers, parents and community representatives.
