ManjuI used to have shoulder length hair for years. One day I decided I needed a restyle. I walked into GYI Hair and asked if there were any appointments. Fortunately there was one available so I asked the stylist to restyle my hair. The result was brilliant. I was very pleased. The prices are very reasonable and the service is excellent. I have since been back twice.

Margaret OrpingtonI have been going to G Y I for many years and always look forward to a relaxing time there. The staff are very friendly and professional and spend time, finding out exactly what each client wants.
There are a large number of regulars, who return again and again, even now, when there is less money around, because they trust the staff and the products they use.
I was told years ago, by a hairdresser who came to my house, that I couldn't have a particular style with my hair. However, when I started to go to G Y I, I found I could in fact have many different styles and over the years that I have been going there, I have experimented with different styles, all of which I have liked.
Due to the good cuts and colours that I have, I receive many compliments on my hair and other people now go there, as a result of seeing how well my hair is looked after and styled.
I am surprised that anyone should have a problem with the salon, as this does not seem to be the experience of anyone I know going there.
I would have no hesitation in recommending the salon to anyone.

LouI was given a gift card for £130 for GYI. Booked appointment. I did have long dark brown hair and had been growing out my fringe for the past year and it had finally reached the length I wanted. We discussed what I wanted and found a picture of the cut. I was supposed to have a dark ash brown base with blonde highlights throughout but asked for a few more in the fringe. Throughout the cut, I held the picture of the cut I wanted in my hand. When my hair was blow dried I had untold SHORT layers, my long fringe had completely gone and my hair was an awful gingery colour. I told her straight away that I really was NOT happy with any of it. All the staff said it looked nice - but it was NOT what I WANTED. I wanted longer layers, DARK hair with highlights. She admitted that my hair did not take and then asked me if I was pregnant or on medication - surely that should have been ascertained during the consultation? She said that if I can make it in within a week then she would rectify it. So I went back and a dark SEMI PERMANENT (she didnt want to damage my hair further due to already having permanent the 1st time) was put on my hair and she said that if it lightened up too much then I could go back and she would redarken it. Turned out ok but unfortunatley I cannot get my cut hair glued back on so just had to deal with the short layers: I could just about manage to get a tiny pony tail - considering my hair was long and past my shoulders before I went here. So when she had finished, I asked her once again about coming back if my hair lightened too much due to the semi-p.Her reply was 'yes if it lightens up in one week'....she didn't tell me that part when she was putting on the semi!! A few weeks later I have the horrid gingery hair again and can do nothing about it. The person who paid for the cut for me was told that it would not come to over a hundred pounds - I was charged £129.50! She was questioned about this and she said that the person who served them at the time must have made a mistake - it was her who served them! She then gave me £13 back! I hate my hair and am now going to have to buy a home dye.

- Michelle petts wood: I have been going to GYI for the last 5 years. I go about 8-10 times a year and have been seen by all the members of staff. I have never had any problems with any aspect of GYI. I have had Cuts, Colours, and Extensions. I have gone from one a very light colour to a very dark brown and back again over the years. All the staff are very proffesional and treat every customer with their time and respect, even if they are running a little behind schedule. You are looked after very well, offered hot drinks and magazines to look through. On numerours occasions one of the girls has put more money in the meter for my car as i have been over two hours. These little extras make going to GYI a relaxing pleasant experience. I would recommend to GYI to anyone. Michelle - Petts wood
