Short profile:
Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust-A wide range of clinical services from two London hospitals. We are one of the largest hospital trusts in the country, with over 1 million patient contacts every year. We provide a full range of hospital and community services for residents in Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham. We also provide specialist services for patients further afield.
Detailed description:
We are one of the largest employers locally, with around 12, 000 staff. We work hard to reflect the cultural and ethnic diversity of the communities we serve. Our success depends on the commitment and dedication of our staff. We aim to recruit and retain the best staff possible. Many of our staff are world leaders in the fields of health care, teaching and research.
We are part of King's Health Partners, one of only five Academic Health Sciences Centres (AHSCs) in the UK, with our partner organisations King's College London; King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust; South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. The Trust works closely with a range of partners to develop and deliver services which meet the needs of our local and wider patient communities. We also work closely with other Primary Care Trusts whose residents come to the Trust for treatment or care, particularly those within the South East London Health Authority area (Lewisham, Bromley, Bexley and Greenwich Primary Care Trusts). The Foundation is increasingly seeking to support bids that improve working across the secondary/primary care interface, and a number of innovative developments planned jointly with primary care have received funding.
The Modernisation Initiative (a potential £15m investment) has involved working with Lambeth and Southwark PCTs and non statutory organisations to improve sexual health services, develop community kidney (renal) services and integrated stroke care. There are several substantial projects funded through the Foundation’s Development Forum which are cross sector e.g. Integrated Falls Services and Perinatal Mental Health.
