Guildford County School has an established reputation for academic excellence, and we are very proud of the results our students have achieved over the years. Detailed description:
Our house system provides a wealth of competitions for all year groups in a range of sports, drama, music and public speaking. Teams compete against local schools in all the major sports, and sports clubs run every lunchtime, including at the Urnfield, our impressive sports field. Students can take lessons in a wide range of musical instruments, and perform in music concerts throughout the year. Musical and drama productions in our professionally equipped hall and music studio are of an extremely high standard. Students take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, Young Enterprise, foreign language exchanges and visits abroad, watersports and ski-ing trips.
Science and geography fieldwork, educational trips, poetry and drama in school, maths, science and design competitions, ICT clubs, food preparation schemes, art gallery and theatre visits, Christian Union and trips to places of worship, all enhance students' learning and experience. All Year 11 students take part in work experience. Fundraising for different charities and organisations is a valued and regular aspect of school life.
Sixth Form students play a large part in organising events and activities for younger students.
