GUILDFORD & WAVERLEY CROSSROADS CARE

Short profile:

We provide trained members of staff who take over those responsibilities and give carers a break - a chance to work, go shopping, meet with friends, look after their own health needs, or simply focus some uninterrupted time on the other children in the family. Carers can take these breaks with peace of mind because we endeavour to send the same trained Crossroads staff member to their home each time, and all work to a detailed care plan which is regularly updated.

Detailed description:

Crossroads Care Surrey is a charity providing support to carers in the county. A 'carer' is someone who looks after a relative or frient with a significant health condition or disability, ranging from an older person with dementia to a child with cerebral palsy. Our aim is to give carers some precious time for themselves by providing them with regular breaks from their caring responsibilities. We treat each person who is cared for as an individual, and try to identify activities that they can enjoy. This ranges from talking an elderly person with Alzheimer's on a walk to see the swans or taking an autistic teenager rock-climbing.
