Short profile:
Grimsby Jazz is a not for profit organization promoting live performances of modern jazz from leading musicians, and supporting top quality local and regional artists. We began in 2003 but became established as a monthly venue in October 2005, with funding from the Arts Council for a piano and PA system. Since then we have had further support from the Arts Council to commission this website and produce and distribute an events brochure.
Detailed description:
Funding from JAZZYORKSHIRE has enabled us to support 'undiscovered' talented musicians, and also be adventurous in inviting unusual line ups of musicians to work together. Unfortunately this funding will end March 2012 due to and end to Arts Council funding for jazz in the region. We are looking for alternative sources of funding for the Club and welcome suggestions for sponsors. Grimsby Jazz has developed a venue with a warm friendly atmosphere for a listening audience, open to members and non-members of Stamford Club.
Tickets are available in advance for all gigs, but please note that some will sell out quite quickly, so book early if you can. Your ticket covers admission only and does not guarantee a seat except in the case of disabled patrons who must inform us when booking. Grimsby Jazz took over the running of Cleethorpes Jazz Festival under the umbrella of North East Lincolnshire Arts Forum in 2009.
A change of venue in 2010 helped achieve an even greater success, Arts Council funding has been approved for this year, and, although weare awaiting approval for further funding, it will take place on 29th, 30th June, 1st July 2012. For further information go to CLEETHORPES JAZZ FESTIVAL.
