We hand make every single sandwich in each shop throughout the day. Sandwiches are made fresh each day and do not have sell-by dates. The sandwiches are made with our own recipe bread, baked and delivered fresh each day from the regional bakery.
We bake off all our savouries little and often in the ovens in our shops, to give our customer quality, freshly baked savouries throughout the day. Our savouries are also baked fresh every day in the shops and therefore, like our sandwiches, do not have sell-by dates.

Greggs began as a family business and we have retained our good, honest family values as the business has grown.

Founded as a family bakery business on Tyneside in the 1930s, Greggs has been baking for over 70 years. We have an impressive history of growth from just one shop to over 1, 400 across the UK.
The business began in the late 1930s when John Gregg delivered yeast, eggs and confectionary on his bicycle. The first small shop, with a bakery at the rear, opened in 1951.
Following the death of John in 1964, his son Ian Gregg took over the family business, which by then had added seven delivery vans to the shop and bakery. Under Ian's leadership, the first regional bakery was built in Newcastle and by the 1970s Greggs had expanded into Scotland, Yorkshire and the North West.

Jade CummingsThe food was lovely I had a chicken club sandwich, and I was having a really nice friendly chat with the lady as she was getting my food, but then I was shocked when a colleague, I assume supervisor, told her to stop chatting and do her work! If she was talking to a friend and not doing any work I would understand but she was doing it while she was working, and friendly banter with a customer. I had never seen the girl before but it seemed to shock us both.
It was the Greggs at the White Rose Shopping Center in Leeds.
