Detailed description:
Pupils attend a full range of after sporting school activities. Music activities include singing, recorder, guitar and orchestra groups as well as drama events. Pupils may attend science and English clubs and a wide range of school visits are available eg: to Russia, Spain, France, USA and Italy. Pupils take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.
The curriculum is enriched by eg Maths Industry Day when employers set maths tasks related to their organisation. The enterprise skills of pupils are tested when they research, make and items under the direction of the Education Business Partnership. All pupils undertake two weeks work experience in Y10.
All pupils learn French and Spanish in Years 7 - 9 and have the chance to learn Russian, Chinese or German in Y9. All pupils take at least one foreign language at KS4 and are encouraged to take 2. Pupils may study separate sciences at GCSE as well as Core and Additional Science. Vocational courses such as COPE, and OCR ICT, Travel & Tourism, Health & Social Care and Scieence broaden the curriculum.
The Resouce Base is open from 8am until 4.30pm. Breakfast is available in the dining hall before school and a homework club takes place after school
