Short profile:
Our key focus will be attendance, particularly of the hard core of students whose attendance is poor. We will be aiming to reduce our PA figures throughout the coming years. We will also be expanding on Personalised Learning through individualised and fast track learning programmes - and enhanced leading edge technology - with the aim of developing highly motivated individual learners.
We will build on the exellent progress made in literacy this year to enable all our students to achieve their very best regardless of level of ability. We will continue to develop our curriculum and expand into diplomas this coming year. The recently revised school curriculum will create even greater choice for students whilst ensuring that all our young people are given high quality information and guidance.
Detailed description:
By 2010 all schools should provide access to a range of 'extended services' for children, young people and families. A school offering access to extended services works in partnership with its local authority and Children's Trust, as well as with other local schools and partners from the voluntary, community and private sectors, to offer access to:
a varied range of before and after school activities, including study support such as homework clubs, sport, music, arts in a safe place to be for primary and secondary schools, childcare 8am-6pm, 48 weeks a year for primary schools, on school site or through other local providers in response to demand; provision does not need to be on a school site if suitable transfer arrangements are in place, but it should be easily accessible to parents for morning and evening travel, parenting and family support, including parenting programmes, family learning sessions, swift and easy access to specialist services such as speech and language therapy, community use of facilities including adult and family learning and ICT.
