Grantham Future was established in 2006 to help Grantham reach its potential of being a thriving market town.

Everything we do is geared towards enhancing, promoting and improving the town for all to benefit.

Detailed description:

Grantham Future successfully applied to participate in the emda (East Midlands Development Agency) funded BID’s academy.

BIDs are a business led partnership to make improvements in a pre-determined area. Agreement through a business plan is made on what improvements should be focused on, what this would cost, how they would be managed. The business plan requires a mandate from the relevant businesses through a dual key vote. The funding is through an additional levy to finance the business plan. A positive vote means all businesses in the area would be liable to pay the levy.

After leading on this feasibility project, including hosting a stakeholder consultation, a final document was produced by Mosaic Consultancy (which was also funding as part of the Academy).

Recommendations from the final report suggested that whilst there appeared to be enthusiasm for a BID from the business sector and public agencies, this needed to be translated into a positive working relationship. The issue of leadership and wider regeneration work were other concerns from the consultation event.

Far more work would be required on the exact nature of improvements which local businesses
