Goosewell is a good school with excellent leadership from a dynamic Headteacher and outstanding features, not least, given its substantial size, in its welcoming, inclusive, family ethos. Other strengths include outstanding pastoral care from all staff. Consequently, pupils attend well, really enjoy school and behave and adopt safe practices in an exemplary way
Detailed description:
Goosewell provides children with a wide variety of clubs and activities to enrich and develop their learning. The curriculum is based on a 'hands on' cross-curricular approach where visits and visitors bring a topic to life and meaning.
The local area is used widely and children also travel to local museums, art galleries, outdoor areas of interest and other schools.
All our children learn French, German and Spanish during their 7 years at the school.
Each term we celebrate themed weeks such as Book Week, Environmental Week, Languages and Health Week.
The outdoor area is being transformed for breaktimes such as traversing wall, trim trails and playgound games. It is also increasingly used for curriculum lesson such as maths, science, goegraphy, art as well as usual PE activities.
The Foundation Stage has their own enclosed area to provide opportunities for ride on toys, big block structures and free play. Year 2 have a sleep over in the school hall, Year 4 have two days in London and Year 6 have a residential week in Torbay.
