Short profile:
Beloved of Moseley's colourful community, The Fighting Cocks has become somewhat of an icon in this trend-setting Birmingham suburb. Original 1800 period features are set against a contemporary design, providing a perfectly offbeat backdrop to the friendly banter drifting over from the bar. Linger over a pub lunch or relax with your favourite pint (there are a fair few to sample), soaking up the warm, bohemian vibe of the local residents.
Detailed description:
What's great about simple, fresh, seasonal cooking is that the quality speaks for itself. Christmas Buffet MenuChristmas Day MenuThe Fighting Cocks' regularly changing menu is based on some of the best produce our British Isles have to offer. Try our Devon crab & salmon fishcakes with lemon & chive crème fraîche and beetroot salad, or the 21-day aged West Country roast beef we serve on Sundays, and you'll get the idea. What's more, using ingredients when they're at their best seasonally means there's always something new to try. Or if you fancy something smaller, our regularly changing hot bar-snacks, such as Gloucester Old Spot sausage rolls with brown sauce or grilled pork belly, apricot & ginger chutney, pair perfectly with our speciality beers and well chosen wines.
What's it to be? A pint of the (un)usual? From Czech pilsners to German lagers, American craft beers to British cask ales (Cask Marque accredited, of course), The Fighting Cocks has a specialty draught range to satisfy even the most fastidious of beer fans. Our well-chosen wines are also anything but ordinary. Alongside these you'll find quality ciders plus spirits from some of the finest artisan distilleries in the world. As for our homemade house tipples, you'll have to sample them for yourself.
Spice your own Bloody Marys to help kick-start your Sunday (or any day), warm up with a special-recipe mulled wine when it's chilly, and cool down with our refreshing soft-drinks in summer. Needless to say, all of our drinks wash down a treat with our seasonal pub food menu.
