The Godalming House is run by Stephen Page and his team. Stephen is a local person who also operates 'Celebration Drinks' and looks after a number of other venues including sports clubs. Detailed description:
Formally the The Railway Hotel situated at the end of Meadrow closest to Godalming. It was built in 1849 to serve passengers arriving at what was then the London and the South Western Railway terminus, located where the old Station Way is now. A decade later the line was extented to Havant which resulted in the new station for Godalming located in it's present place. The hotel then became more a public house.
After a fire in 1933 both the Railway Hotel and the neighbouring pub The Fountain, then owned by Hodgson's Brewery was demolised and re built to the building that stands here today. The Railway Inn was finally renamed to The Wey Inn in 1969 when the old station closed. Today (2011) the pub finally closed as a public house and reopened as 'Godalming House' an exclusive use public and private hire venue.
