Rik and his staff would like to welcome you to this 17th Century Coaching Inn beside Rydal Water, conveniently located in the Heart of the Lakes with several famous walks starting from our doorsteps.
It is renowned for its association with Wordsworth who lived nearby. It has its own grounds overlooking Dora's Field.

The perfect recipe for a relaxing break would include many ingredients. We think you'll agree that we have included all of them in our friendly and welcoming hotel.
For over four hundred years guests have been returning to this relaxing and inviting retreat. Despite their room's spacious comfort, however, many of our previous guests have been unable to resist the lure of the Lakeland countryside visible from their window.
All our rooms offer en-suite bathrooms, and for that special occasion we have four superior rooms - three of which offer Four Poster Beds, the last a super-king bed, jacuzzi bath and separate shower - for that extra touch of luxury.
Each bedroom has been styled to enhance the character of this 17th century Coaching Inn. Surrounded by the beautiful Lakeland countryside, many of our rooms boast a uniquely stunning view.
