Traditional acupuncture also involves the techniques of moxibustion and cupping. Moxa is a herb that is burnt as part of the treatment. It can be placed on the needles, or placed directly or indirectly on specific acupuncture points and channels creating a warm, soothing effect.

Cupping involves placing glass cups on specific points or muscles to aid the relief of muscle strain, invigorating the tissue and promoting the healing process. Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medical technique; very fine needles are inserted into specific points on the body along lines called meridians.

This stimulates the body’s natural healing response and restores balance and health. Treatments focus on addressing specific problems by treating a person as a whole to create equilibrium between their physical, emotional and psychological aspects.
