Short profile:

The new Frome Hospital opened on 2 June 2008 and was built to replace the old Frome Victoria Hospital. Patients are admitted from district general hospitals and from home and receive their medical care from their GP practice.

Detailed description:

The hospital has 28 inpatient beds where patients can be admitted under the care of a consultant physician. There is a team of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists to support patients during their hospital stay. Patients often return to Frome Hospital following treatment from district general hospitals so they can be closer to their home and families.

Other facilities include:

There one ward - Marshfield ward (2 visitors to a bed) - and one Birthing Unit.

X-ray - the x ray department undertakes plain x-rays, barium examinations and ultrasounds by appointment. There is open access for some GP requested x-rays.

Community Rehabilitation Unit - Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy services are provided as well as Podiatry.

Minor Injuries Unit - Seven days a week 08.00 - 23.00 hrs.

Outpatients Department - visiting consultants from Royal United Hospital Bath offer a wide range of outpatient appointments here.

Maternity services are provided by Wiltshire Primary Care Trust.

Renal Dialysis Satellite Unit.

Musculoskeletal Clinic for back, shoulder and knee problems.
