Short profile:
There are two main charities fighting for the preservation of Chichester Harbour, The Friends of Chichester Harbour and The Chichester Harbour Trust. The two act in harmony but have distinctly different objectives. Friends of Chichester Harbour fund conservation, amenity and education projects in cooperation with Chichester Harbour Conservancy.
Detailed description:
In addition the charity provides weekly working parties controlled and directed by the Harbour Conservancy Rangers. The Friends are also represented on various committees in the governance of the harbour and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Friends of Chichester Harbour help the Conservancy staff to manage the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to keep it naturally beautiful.
As a Friend you can join work parties in a variety of tasks. As a member you do not have to take part in any activities.
Subscriptions and your donations allow us to finance the work parties and many more projects. Bigger membership numbers gives us a bigger block vote to lobby local and national authorities, protecting this unique heritage.
