Franck & Tobiesen (UK) Limited was founded 1983. It was the daughter company of a large Danish ship broking company which in itself was founded in 1915. We broke the company mold when we set up in the United Kingdom whereby our head office was supplying vessels, stevedoring, general freight forwarding, paper transportation and other services we concentrated primarily on construction machinery and have never looked back.
The company is headed by Mr Rasmus Stokholm. His early years at our head office in Denmark were spent building his knowledge of project shipping, chartering and forwarding. This background and wealth of knowledge put him in good stead for his move to the UK to take on the new challenge of moving construction machinery around the world.
Marine Insurance is the oldest type of insurance. In the early 19th century, Lloyd's and the Institute of London Underwriters (a grouping of London Company Insurers) developed between them standardized clauses for the use of Marine Insurance, and these have been maintained ever since.
