Forest Preparatory School is an independent
co-educational school for pupils up to the age of eleven. The school has its own thriving Nursery and Kindergarten for children from two to four years old.
Forest is situated in the attractive suburb of Timperley near Altrincham and within easy access of Manchester city centre. The school provides pleasant and peaceful surroundings for children to pursue their studies.
Classrooms are grouped in a number of buildings set within over an acre of mature gardens. There are spacious green areas as well as three rubberised or hard surfaced playgrounds. Pre-Prep and Reception classes also have fenced outdoor play provision attached to their classrooms.
Detailed description:
The school day begins at 8.40 a.m. and ends at 3.10 p.m. for Lower School and 3.45 p.m. for Upper School. We provide wraparound care from 7.45 a.m. until 6.00 p.m.
We expect high standards of behaviour and in our calm learning environment children develop a love of learning, a feeling of being valued and a genuine sense of achievement.
At Forest Preparatory School we offer an exciting and stimulating curriculum, which blends the traditional elements that have established us as one of the leading schools in the locality, with innovative and inspiring activities designed to broaden the mind and feed our pupils' thirst for knowledge.
Forest boasts a broad curriculum, including English, Mathematics, Science, ICT, PSHE, History, Geography, Religious Studies, Art, Design Technology, PE and French, and from Year 2 to Year 6 there are timetabled lessons in Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning.
Throughout the school the children are taught by their class teacher for the majority of subjects, with the addition of specialist teachers for ICT, PE, French and Music.
The children are assessed internally using a variety of standardised tests and teacher assessments. Within lessons the varied learning styles are developed and we seek to support kinaesthetic, visual and auditory learners.
Our facilities are excellent, with children throughout the school using a specialist computer suite, library and a dedicated room for practical activities and music.
