A charity that mentors ex-offenders when they leave prison. By using local trained volunteers we are able to help them re-integrate themselves into the local community.

Our Vision:

Dorset is a community where ex offenders are supported in turning their lives around and making a positive contribution to the civil society.

Footprints is a charity that mentors men and women who are either leaving prison or serving a sentence in the community but who are returning to or live in Dorset, Bournemouth, Poole, and south Somerset. We help our clients to help themselves to re-integrate back into their local community, to re-build family relationships, to get their lives in order and to help them to make a contribution to society without re-offending.

We train our volunteers to mentor the clients. The mentors collect the client from the prison and help them with tasks they need assistance with in order to start re-shaping their lives. This often includes attending appointments, filling in forms, signposting them to agencies that can provide suitable support, helping them to sort out their housing arrangements, attend college, and find work or occupation. The mentor maintains contact with the client for as long as he or she needs this support – this can be for weeks or months. Each case is based on the individual’s needs.
