Like any business that strives to be competitive and to give a good reliable service, there will always be someone offering products which appear, at face value, to be better and cheaper. At these times I think we need to be reminded that “the law of commerce prohibits paying a little and getting a lot”. Our dealers seem to agree and, over the years, have been wise enough not to be fooled by these something for nothing offers which keep cropping up and which clearly cannot be maintained long term. At Fleetband we have over 30 years worth of experience in calculating warranty insurance premiums, 17 of which have been solely with commercial vehicles, we therefore know what percentage needs to be paid to the underwriters to satisfy future claims, Fleetband routinely pay well in excess of these amounts in order to ensure, that when the need arises, we are able to treat claims in a sensible and fair manner with a sympathetic view where ‘grey areas’ are involved.
One way to ensure sensible premiums are paid to our insurers is to keep our running costs low. We do not need huge margins from our products because we do not have very expensive salespeople driving very expensive cars and we do not operate out of large impressive offices or employ huge numbers of staff. We simply provide an honest, open product together with an honest, open, first class service.
