Short profile:
Fir Tree is a vibrant junior school set in the heart of the historic market town of Wallingford in Oxfordshire.
We have six classes and seven teachers. Our teachers help us with our work. Sometimes they get new ideas from other schools and teach us new things, for example we have just adopted a new handwriting style. Our teachers are also very helpful and teach us things we need like spelling. They teach us lots of different subjects like maths, PE, English and art. The staff at Fir Tree are nice because they don’t shout at us.
All teachers have half a day a week out of their classrooms for planning, preparation and assessment. Experienced teachers who are familiar with the children and routines cover the class in the teacher’s absence.
Detailed description:
The children at Fir Tree are very nice and well behaved. We have six classes. All classes follow the Golden Rules which are:
1. to work to the best of
our ability; 2. to listen to each other; 3. to treat each other and our things with respect.
From September, there will be three mixed year three and four classes and three Year
Five and Six classes.
At Fir Tree we have a variety of facilities inside and out. Classrooms are spacious and are fitted with interactive whiteboards which are connected to the internet. In addition, there is an extra classroom which is called the Sunshine room where we have music lessons and Circle Time. The large hall is used for assemblies, P.E and as an overflow at lunchtime. We are very fortunate to have a dining room and our own fully equipped kitchen. Our new ICT suite accommodates a total of 16 computers with easy access to
the internet and a laser colour printer. Last but definitely
not least is our very own library which contains a great range of books and is in constant use.We have amazing outside facilities and are very proud of our school. We put a lot of effort into maintaining it and like to keep our school clean and tidy at all times. Facilities include a tarmac playground, a huge playing field, chatterbox, hopscotch, giant draughts, big rocks and a wooden castle which can be used as a classroom. We have some of the most fantastic grounds in Oxfordshire
and visitors often comment
on them.
