Short profile:

The UK Film Council is the Government-backed lead agency for film in the UK ensuring that the economic, cultural and educational aspects of film are effectively represented at home and abroad. We fund script development, film production, short films, film export and distribution, cinemas, film education, culture and archives, festivals and audience support schemes. We work to make non-mainstream films more widely available to cinema audiences and support the export of UK films abroad.

We're here to make sure that the UK has a dynamic film industry fit for the digital age and to help UK audiences enjoy the best of British and world cinema. We have a clear strategy to make this happen.

Our Research and Statistics Unit provides market information to market participants and internally for policy and strategy purposes.

Detailed description:

Film production and development Our Film Fund is a new unified production and development fund dedicated to British filmmaking. We will support filmmakers in the UK who are emerging or world-class and are capable of creating distinctive and entertaining work. We have £15 million a year to invest across the development, production and completion of feature films.

Being supported by the UK Film Council means more than just being given funding. It means that your project can be assisted at every step of the journey by our team, who can offer advice and practical help with many aspects of developing and producing your film.

We welcome applications for all kinds of film – from commercial mainstream to experimental, from genre movies to personal stories, from documentaries to animation to live-action fiction.
