The Heatherview Medical Centre is located in the Parkstone area of Poole - off the Alder Road at Talbot Heath. We also have a branch surgery in Oakdale: the Fernside Surgery. Much of this work is undertaken in normal surgery but specialised clinics may be available. We encourage all our patients to take responsibility for their health, both in disease prevention and treating existing diseases. As they say, 'prevention is better than cure'.
Detailed description:
High blood pressure in the long term increases the risk of heart attacks and strokes. Reducing blood pressure can reduce these risks. Treating blood pressure does not always require tablets.
All adults are advised to have their blood pressure checked at least every 5 years. If you have not had your blood pressure checked recently please ask the nurse of doctor.
Regular exercise helps prevent heart disease as well as reducing weight and makes you feel better. If you are overweight or out of shape please seek medical advice before starting rigorous exercise.
