Feng Shui, which translates as 'Wind - Water', has it foundations in a combination of Ancient Eastern Philosphy and Religion. The aim of Feng Shui is to harmonise the Ch'i energy surrounding and inside us, by mapping its flow and enhancing or weakening it to achieve a balance. The techniques used in stabalising Ch'i energy vary in the different approaches which have evolved over two and a half millennia. One key event in this evolution is thought to have been from Fu Hsi, after he saw a turtle climb from the River Lo.

Originally the art and science of Feng Shui was the domain of the Chinese Aristocracy, but in more recent times its popularity has spread from East to West, where it has not only been embraced by individuals, but also major corporations, and institutions. We discovered Feng Shui when it made this translation, and as we learnt more were inspired to create our range of fragrance products. Feng Shui does not have one method to resolve the balance of Ch'i; over the centuries different schools have developed different techniques.

In our experience no school of thought has a definitive answer, often a combination of the schools' approaches and techniques can prove useful. As we cannot hope to cover all the schools here, we have chosen to introduce the Form, Flying Star and Eight Directions Approaches. We have the greatest experience of these Schools; the selection is not meant to marginalise the Nine Pillars, Eight House, Black Sect or other Schools' techniques and we hope that you will investigate these through our recommended resources.
