Short profile:
FEdS works with significant networks of people and organisations across the three sectors of business, government and education.
Prime amongst these networks is the FEdS Business Forum on Lifelong Learning, which has over 50 national and multi-national member organisations, drawn from a wide variety of business sectors. Members of the Business Forum benefit from tailored policy briefings and discussion seminars with key personnel in government and its agencies.
Detailed description:
FEdS is not just about thinking and talking. We have instigated a number of programmes that have filled recognised gaps in the education and skills system.
What drives FEdS in all we do is creating greater understanding between business, government and education, leading to better policies and practices to support the development of all individuals as both employees and citizens.

The FEdS team is working on a programme of activity for next year. Since I became chief executive in October, I’ve been meeting members to discuss the future. There are many issues you want FEdS to tackle and put on the table for debate, but it is also clear that you want to collaborate with a purpose and to practical effect. Some key questions are: How do we share good practice? How do we work with the public sector? How can businesses do more to inform students about their likely needs. Will Further Education Colleges become the community activists government want them to be? How do we handle the pressure to take on more apprenticeships? How do we turn risk into opportunity?
