Short profile:

Falkirk Community Hospital provides a wide range of health services for local people . These include dental, speech and language therapy, dietetics, sexual health, mental health and psychology services

Inpatient beds and community services currently based in Bonnybridge Hospital will relocate to Falkirk Community Hospital in 2012 when new or refurbished accommodation has been developed on the site.

Detailed description:

The Minor Injuries Unit will continue to operate until summer 2011. Minor injuries services will then be provided in modern, purpose-built facilities at the new Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert as part of a fully comprehensive A&E department. Ophthalmology and pain clinics will transfer to the Stirling Community Hospital site in late 2011, in line with agreed plans.

A programme of demolition is due to start in November 2010 to take down the Windsor Unit, the Surgical Block and a number of older buildings across the site.

New accommodation will be developed and a number of existing buildings will also be refurbished.
