The Internet is the shop window to the world for any business or organization. A web site should therefore portray a business or organization in the best possible way whilst functioning in an acceptable manner for the viewer. Much time and effort has been spent researching the habits of the web browser discovering that viewers regard speed of the site loading and ease of site navigation as the most important factors of any site. If the viewer has to wait for slow and elaborate graphics to appear, they often leave the site before the front or index page has fully loaded onto the screen. We therefore do not design web sites with large and extensive graphics packages, just simple effective sites.

It is also important to consider that once a web site has been constructed and placed on the Internet, visitors need to find it. The client needs to incorporate the web site address on all their stationary and advertising to allow the best possible publicity to the web site. It is also the responsibility of the designer to incorporate the necessary features to allow the automated systems of the Internet to discover and revisit your site to ensure your presence on search engines (i.e. Google etc.) is maintained. Site promotion however is an extensive and complicated sector that is not covered within a design package other than the basic design scripting.
The front or index page of any web site gives the viewer the first impression of the company or organization. It should therefore be clear and concise and offer easy access to all areas of the site.
