Short profile:

Epicurus provides catering services, catering equipment hire, licensed mobile event bars and event management in Newcastle upon Tyne and the North East of England. Tailor made wedding catering packages available.

In 2008 we celebrated 10 years of trading and my how things have changed! We began catering from a domestic kitchen in 1998, hired a small industrial unit in 1999 and another in 2001. In 2005 we purchased our own 8, 500 sq. ft. site six miles from Newcastle upon Tyne city centre. Over the years, our staffing levels have risen from 1 to 100 and now includes five full time chefs, a full time event manager, event asistants, admin staff, kitchen porters, drivers and our own brigade of waiting, bar staff and freelance chefs that we recruit ourselves.

We are unique in the North East as we offer all of our services .in-house.. Epicurus can organise & manage your event, prepare all the catering required, supply all the staff you.ll need, operate licensed bars, provide all event catering equipment such as tables, chairs, linen, ovens & hot cupboards etc. The only thing we don't supply are marquees, but you can find a list of these suppliers within the Epicurus Resources section of this site.

So as you can see, we've come a long way since 1998. Despite this however, our commitment and vision remains the same; to provide a range of catering services that make organising your event simple. Why deal with lots of suppliers when Epicurus can be your one contact and take care of everything?

Chris Reay, the company M.D. heads up our team of chefs in the kitchen. Passionate about creating good food using great ingredients, Chris and the team create a range of menus using local producers wherever possible. Our meat and cream is from Northumberland farms, potatoes are from the Cornhill upon Tweed, cheese are from Blagdon & Wooler and our famous strawberries come from Yorkshire when in season.

We can cater for any type of event and any number of guests. We currently have menus for; canape bowl food, knife & fork buffets, dinner menus, BBQ's and breakfasts. Chris holds his Advanced Food Hygiene Qualifications and the rest of the team have either Basic or Intermediate qualifications. Chris also holds a Personal Licence enabling him to sell alcohol by retail.

The philosophy of Epicurus continues today in our hospitality and service. Whether your function is a candlelit meal for two or a wedding for four hundred, you will receive the highest quality food and the most attentive service.
